“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

This is a favorite passage of mine taken from Hebrews 10:25. Honestly though others find it really a waste of time or more especially a waste of money to celebrate, I find it absorbing – in a way that it amuses and entertains me. So how and why should always find a way to celebrate being together?

It was just a year and a half ago when I started celebrating anniversaries and monthsaries – quite depressing, right? But it was just then that I realized what significant offer it gives in our lives. Although these celebrations are celebrated in different times and places and may contain diverse implications for each of us, there is still one common intention which compels us to do such things – the thought of being remembered.

Today we are living in a fast-paced society wherein everyone tends to be in complete motion. So as not to be left behind, the greater part of our days are actually used up in carrying out our jobs and doing our duties and responsibilities. We tend to forget the tiny details of our lives and oftentimes we neglect to appreciate the wonderful things that the world has brought upon us. We even forget to thank the Lord for granting another chapter in our lives and budge ourselves to the reality of spending it to make a living. We often overlook the small but significant things our loved ones do for us like preparing breakfast or by simply just making a cup of your favorite coffee. We ignore these people and tend to demonstrate that a hectic schedule took over and it seemed like by just rendering a smile was too much.

Those were actually the reasons why you should in any circumstance find a way to get together especially during your anniversary. Anniversaries only come once in a year which make it all the more special. It is during this day that you can be thankful to your partner, show more love and affection and ask for the necessary pardon for the hurtful feelings you showed or had unconsciously given. Marriage is a great gift from God so one should treasure and give importance to this. It should always be appreciated and be thanked for. If work and other responsibilities demand three hundred and sixty-four days of your time, at least give this one day – your anniversary – to your partner. Let the stresses of life fall behind, spend and do the things you both love, share the pleasurable feelings that both of you have and reminisce on the goals and purposes you have desired. It is through this that you will be able to build a stronger, closer, and satisfying relationship. Despite the hardships and trials you have encountered you are still together and that would be a sufficient reason to be grateful, a reason to celebrate. Continue the burning love of your happy marriage, be thankful to God, appreciate, celebrate and feel the emotion of being remembered.
